# MT. FUJI / LAKE KAWAGUCHIKO — COMPLETE DAY RESEARCH PACK v1.0

**Prepared:** 2 November 2026\
**For:** Two adults staying at APA Hotel Shinjuku Gyoemmae, Tokyo, 7–14 November 2026\
**Day:** Weather-flexible, ideally a clear weekday within 8–13 November\
**Format:** Editorial research / specifications for a separate HTML-building agent. **No photo assets or image research are included, by user request.**

## 0. Executive decisions, confidence and priorities

**Locked must-sees:** (1) **Oishi Park**, with extensive Mt. Fuji + lake photography; (2) **Kawaguchiko Maple Corridor / 2026 Autumn Leaves Festival**, ideally in daylight **and** during the early evening illumination. Do not substitute one for the other. (3) Scenic northern-shore stroll; (4) a regional *hōtō* lunch; (5) time for cafés/local crafts at adjoining Fuji Oishi Hana Terrace. **Gotemba Premium Outlets is explicitly excluded from the core day**; Kisarazu is a separate shopping-day possibility. Chureito Pagoda and the ropeway are not part of the baseline, because they would dilute the core experience.

**Transport default:** Walk from hotel to JR Shinjuku → **07:30 Fuji Excursion direct train** → Kawaguchiko (09:28) → **Red Line local sightseeing bus** to Oishi Park (stop 20) → walk to Hana Terrace → Red Line eastbound toward station, with optional short stop at Nagasaki Park (stop 18) → Momiji-tei lunch / Maple Corridor (stop 17) → stay for lights at sunset → **prearranged taxi** to Kawaguchiko Station → **18:25 Fujikyu local train** to Otsuki (19:20) → **19:36 JR Kaiji 52** to Shinjuku (20:42). Walk back to hotel. This timing is a **weekday model**, not a ticket confirmation. Time sources: [S1], [S2], [S3], [S4].

**Critical scheduling principle:** Decide Fuji date using clear-morning mountain visibility, rather than blindly fixing November 11. Booking a seat on the 07:30 direct train while the preferred date is still uncertain creates change/refund risk. Confirm full ticket conditions at checkout.

**Research status legend:**

- `CONFIRMED_OPERATOR` — published official operator/town information, but still must be rechecked at actual date.
- `CONFIRMED_RESTAURANT` — restaurant's current own published information.
- `ESTIMATE` — planning range; not a quote, reservation or guaranteed service.
- `CHECK_DATE` — verify once day is selected, especially if a weekend or Thursday.
- `USER_CHOICE` — optional decision, not part of required route.

**Do not confuse:** The **Red Line** is a local sightseeing bus serving the lake. The Fuji Excursion is a **train**. The later Fujikyu Railway local train is a separate **train** terminating at Otsuki, where you change to a JR train. A highway bus is only a contingency, not the main plan.

### Geographic logic

The simplest route goes **west to east along the northern lake shore**: **Oishi Park (westernmost)** → Hana Terrace (beside it) → optional Nagasaki Park/shoreline → **Maple Corridor and nearby restaurant** → station for return. This prevents bouncing between different sides of Kawaguchiko. If clouds clear only later, allow the schedule to adapt and extend time at the best viewing location.

## 2. Operational itinerary — weekday model with decision points

All times in **Japan Standard Time**. Confirm once date is chosen; scenic stops are flexible. Major rail departures are tied to published timetables; meal and bus windows are planning targets.

| Time | Experience | Transit and practical actions | Time status |

| **06:00–06:25** | Breakfast / get ready at APA | Check live cameras at Oishi / lake; pack warm layers, portable battery, water, cash and Suica. Breakfast from konbini is efficient. | Estimated |
| **06:40–06:45** | Leave hotel | Walk toward JR Shinjuku Station; Google Maps walking navigation, not the Shinjuku-gyoemmae Metro station. | Estimated |
| **07:05–07:15** | Find correct platform | Enter **JR** station gates; check departure board for Fuji Excursion 3 to Kawaguchiko; carriage and seat assignment from ticket. **Do not assume platform number**. | Estimated |
| **07:30–09:28** | Direct Fuji Excursion | Reserved-seat train, no interchange at Otsuki. The Fuji Excursion cars may be coupled to Kaiji/Azusa for part of the route; be in correct carriage. | Official published schedule [S1] |
| **09:28–09:45** | Kawaguchiko arrival | Exit station; identify Red Line Platform 1; choose Suica taps or buy 1-day sightseeing pass. If huge queue, consider local taxi directly to Oishi (price on meter). | Estimated |

### Time-management alert

The **17:10–18:00 taxi segment** is the critical link. If you want to stay until \~18:00 at the corridor, the **18:25 local train is unlikely to be safe** without a taxi already confirmed and unusual luck. Pick the 19:05 local + later JR route instead, subject to same-day confirmation. Do **not** position the late train as already reserved or guaranteed.

## 3. Outbound railway: exact steps, booking, ticket handling

### Walk: hotel to Shinjuku

- Hotel base: **APA Hotel Shinjuku Gyoemmae**, 2-2-8 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
- Plan **15–20 minutes walking** plus **10–15 minutes within Shinjuku Station**. Google Maps: [https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&origin=APA+Hotel+Shinjuku+Gyoemmae&destination=Shinjuku+Station&travelmode=walking](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1\&origin=APA+Hotel+Shinjuku+Gyoemmae\&destination=Shinjuku+Station\&travelmode=walking)
- Enter **JR** part of station, **not** Odakyu, Keio or Tokyo Metro. The platform can change; use electronic boards for **FUJI EXCURSION / Kawaguchiko / 07:30**.
- Board your reserved seat in the right car. The train divides from coupled JR service; train attendants/station signs can confirm correct car.

### Booking choices

**A. Preferred: JR-EAST Train Reservation (Eki-net)**: [https://www.eki-net.com/en/jreast-train-reservation/Top/Index](https://www.eki-net.com/en/jreast-train-reservation/Top/Index)

- Search **Shinjuku → Kawaguchiko**, date, **07:30**, **2 adults**, reserved seats next to each other.
- Be careful to identify whether a product is a **limited-express seat/express charge only** or a **combined base fare + express**. A ticketless limited-express product still requires the corresponding **basic train fare** (typically via eligible IC card). Do not pay only the seat supplement if you don't have the base fare.
- Train booking generally opens **10:00 JST one month before** departure; current dates are within the booking window. Verify changes/cancellation terms before paying. [S1], [S6]
- Save reservation reference, train number, car and seat; check if IC-card linkage or paper ticket collection is required for your chosen product.
- Note **Fuji Excursion cannot be reserved via Fujikyu's separate local limited-express web system**; use the JR-EAST reservation pathway. [S6]

**B. JR station ticket office / reserved-seat machine**

- At JR Shinjuku (or earlier during your Tokyo stay) use **Midori-no-Madoguchi** or a **reserved-seat machine**.
- Request `2 adult seats together, Fuji Excursion No. 3, Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko, 7:30 a.m., including base fare and limited-express fare.`
- Pay with cash/accepted card; keep any paper tickets and follow gate instructions.
- **Do not wait until the morning if you need the specific 07:30 departure**; may sell out during autumn season.

**C. Book a Klook guided trip instead**

- Only a real option if the package explicitly guarantees **both Oishi Park and Maple Corridor**, lets you remain for the **illumination**, and states final pickup/drop-off. Many shared tours **substitute Maple Corridor for Oishi Park** in November. Never assume the standard bus tour is equivalent to this DIY route.
- Separate tickets sold via travel sites must be matched to exact train and conditions.

**Fare reference**: Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko **¥4,200 per adult one way** = ¥8,400 for two, including basic fare and limited-express fee, as listed by Fujikyu. [S1]

### If the 07:30 is full

1. **08:30 direct Fuji Excursion → 10:26** Kawaguchiko. Move each sightseeing stop later \~1 h, shorten Nagasaki/coffee; keep Maple Corridor illumination.
2. Other listed direct departures: **09:30 → 11:28**, **10:30 → 12:24**; these meaningfully cut photo time. [S1]
3. **JR via Otsuki + Fujikyu local**: Shinjuku → Otsuki on JR Chuo line (limited express or slower regular services), then local Fujikyu Railway → Kawaguchiko. More transfers, potentially flexible; calculate *the exact day's* connection in JR and Fujikyu planners.
4. **Shinjuku highway bus → Kawaguchiko** from Busta Shinjuku, but highway congestion can be severe in foliage season; use as fallback, not first choice if weather window is narrow.

## 4. On arrival: Red Line local sightseeing bus (the only local bus needed)

### Find the boarding point

1. Exit Kawaguchiko Station through the main door to the bus stands.
2. Find **Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus — RED LINE**, typically **boarding area/platform 1**. Confirm sign, staff and day-of platform assignment.
3. Board in direction **Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center / Oishi Park (stop 20)**. Do **not** take Green Line or Blue Line.
4. Get off at **stop 20**, adjacent to Oishi Park. Official stop numbering: stop 17 = Itchiku Kubota Art Museum / Maple Corridor vicinity; stop 18 = Sunnide Resort / Nagasaki Park Entrance; stop 20 = Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center / Oishi Park. [S2]
5. Typical route interval about 15 minutes during the main day. Autumn festival buses can queue and experience road delays. The schedule is a **published timetable**, not a seat reservation.

### How to pay: decision

**Use Suica / PASMO:** On covered Fujikyu services, tap on and tap off as directed by the bus reader; zone fare is calculated. Always check current passenger signage/driver instructions. Each person needs their own IC card. [S7]

**OR buy 1-day sightseeing bus pass:** **¥1,500/adult, ¥3,000/two**; covers Red, Green, Blue routes according to operator. Available at Kawaguchiko Station bus counter, online or on-board for the 1-day pass. It is valid on covered routes, not long-distance highway buses and not railway trains. [S8]

**What is actually best?** For two or three short Red Line bus rides, **individual Suica fares may be cheaper**. 1-day pass is a convenience option, not an automatic saving. Compare fares before buying, and don't count the optional Nagasaki Park stop if you're likely to skip it.

### How to ride between your actual stops

- **Station (1) → Oishi Park (20)**: outward Red Line.
- **Oishi Park (20) → Nagasaki Park (18)**: Red Line **toward Kawaguchiko Station**; 2 stops.
- **Nagasaki (18) → Momiji-tei / Maple Corridor (17)**: same direction 1 stop. This short segment can also be walked if practical.
- **Oishi Park (20) → Maple Corridor (17)** if skipping Nagasaki: go straight to stop 17, then walk to lunch/festival area.
- After sunset, **do not rely on the Red Line** without explicitly verifying the last usable return timetable; use reserved/arranged taxi as baseline.

## 5. Attraction cards — research content for the HTML UI

### A1. Oishi Park — MUST DO

- **Display title:** Oishi Park / 大石公園
- **Position in route:** First scenic stop; west/northwest shore Lake Kawaguchiko.
- **Getting there:** Red Line stop 20, `Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center`, then short walk.
- **Suggested duration:** 75–90 minutes, expandable if Fuji is clear.
- **Cost:** Public park access normally **free**; paid drinks/shops optional.
- **What to do:** Start with unobstructed mountain/lake photos, take portraits from open public pathways, lake horizon compositions, admire seasonal plantings, stroll to the adjacent visitor center.
- **Photography timing:** Morning is a strong priority because mountain cloud often develops later. No view is guaranteed, even in sunshine.
- **Tradeoff:** Red kochia blooms/foliage peak earlier in autumn than your November travel period; do not promise vivid red kochia. The mountain and lake are the core attraction.
- **Contingency:** If summit obscured, stay only \~30–45 minutes and use extra time at Maple Corridor/cafés; if clear, extend to 2 hours and drop Nagasaki Park.
- **Directions:** [https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Oishi+Park+Kawaguchiko](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Oishi+Park+Kawaguchiko)

### A2. Fuji Oishi Hana Terrace — MUST INCLUDE, low-pressure

- **Display title:** Fuji Oishi Hana Terrace / 富士大石ハナテラス
- **Position:** Next to Oishi Park; 2–5 minute **walk**, not a bus.
- **Duration:** 30–45 minutes; expandable if cafés have seating with views.
- **Cost:** Free to wander; café desserts, coffee and gifts extra.
- **Highlights:** Boutique courtyard, cafés, local textile/gift shops and Yamanashi fruit sweets. Individual tenant hours differ.
- **Specific café picks:** BRAND NEW DAY COFFEE (latte/croissant/pizza; official 09:30–18:00, variable) [S9]; T's Cafe (Mt. Fuji-area milk soft serve, light snacks; April–November 09:30–17:30, food orders to 16:00) [S10]; Budoya Kofu Hana Terrace Café (grape juice, Yamanashi raisin sandwich cookies, seasonal fruit sweets; weekdays 11:00–16:30; weekends 10:00–16:30; last order 16:00) [S11]. If arriving at 11:35 on a weekday, Budoya should be open by published hours.
- **Directions:** [https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Fuji+Oishi+Hana+Terrace](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Fuji+Oishi+Hana+Terrace)
- **Website and shop directory:** [https://www.fujioishihanaterasu.com/en/shop/](https://www.fujioishihanaterasu.com/en/shop/)

### A3. Nagasaki Park / northern lakeshore — OPTIONAL

- **Display title:** Nagasaki Park / 長崎公園
- **Position:** East of Oishi Park on northern shore, before Maple Corridor neighborhood.
- **Access:** Red Line **stop 18 — Sunnide Resort / Nagasaki Park Entrance**; short walk, confirm exact pedestrian route on Maps.
- **Duration:** 20–40 minutes. No reason to force it if bus queue or lunch is delayed.
- **Value:** Different lake-and-mountain photo angle, quiet waterside scenery. Fair-weather stop.
- **Cost:** Generally free outdoor shoreline viewing.
- **Skip if:** Fuji is clouded, cold/windy weather, bus line long, lunch queue, or late-start train.
- **Directions:** [https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Nagasaki+Park+Lake+Kawaguchiko](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Nagasaki+Park+Lake+Kawaguchiko)

### A4. Momiji-tei / もみじ亭 — PRIMARY LUNCH

- **Address:** 3067-1 Kawaguchi, Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi 401-0304.
- **Map:** [https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Momiji+Tei+Kawaguchiko](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Momiji+Tei+Kawaguchiko)
- **Access:** Red Line stop **17 Itchiku Kubota Art Museum**, then \~2–5 minute walk (check exact map path).
- **Cuisine:** Yamanashi *hōtō* — thick flat noodles in hot, vegetable-rich miso broth. Their miso is made in-house.
- **Verified restaurant menu picks (2 Nov 2026):**
  1. **Beef hōtō (牛肉ほうとう) ¥1,760** — restaurant marks it **No. 1 popularity**. Recommended if you want meat-rich, savory broth.
  2. **Pumpkin hōtō (南瓜ほうとう) ¥1,450** — classic vegetable/pumpkin version, best for a first traditional taste.
  3. **Mushroom hōtō (きのこほうとう) ¥1,650** — restaurant recommendation, more earthy fragrance.
  4. **Pumpkin hōtō set meal ¥1,900** — includes red rice, simmered dishes, pickles and a side; good for a fuller lunch.
  5. **Beef hōtō with shrimp tempura set ¥2,500** — splurge/fuller meal.
  6. **Fried wakasagi (lake smelt) ¥680** — interesting side to share.
- **For the two of you:** Beef hōtō + pumpkin hōtō, optionally a wakasagi share plate. Menu baseline **¥3,210** for the two bowls (plus side if chosen). Prices from own restaurant website, not an outdated restaurant-directory menu. [S12]
- **Hours issue / critical conditional:** Restaurant own website lists **10:30–19:00 with variable closing**. Tabelog / Fujikyu listings identify **Thursday as the regular closed day**, although another current guide says irregular closures. Therefore **DO NOT promise this restaurant if your Fuji day is Thu Nov 12**; verify by calling **0555-76-8200** or choose backup. [S12], [S13]
- **Payment:** A current restaurant directory lists credit cards, Suica, and QR options; treat this as secondary evidence and still carry cash. [S13]
- **Queue:** Autumn festival lunch demand likely substantial; allow 20–40 min flexible waiting rather than guaranteeing a table.
- **Official menu:** [https://momiji-tei.jp/menu/](https://momiji-tei.jp/menu/)
- **Official venue:** [https://momiji-tei.jp/](https://momiji-tei.jp/)

### A4b. Lunch backup — Hōtō Laboratory (Hōtō Kenkyūjo), Kawaguchiko main

- **Location:** 2746-1 Kawaguchi, Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi. Verify its distance and safe walking route from Maple Corridor before using it; it's another northern-shore option, not literally next door.
- **Specialty:** **Seafood hōtō** and housemade noodles; a distinctive twist on regional noodles, good if you'd prefer seafood or Momiji-tei is closed.
- **Published hours:** 11:00–18:00; **budget ¥1,000–2,000/person**. Restaurant lists card / Suica / PayPay and table reservations. [S14]
- **Menu recommendation:** Seafood hōtō; verify exact current dish price with the restaurant before adding a number to UI.
- **Official:** [https://fuji.creative-r.com/en/pages/hoto-labo](https://fuji.creative-r.com/en/pages/hoto-labo)
- **Maps:** [https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Hoto+Laboratory+Kawaguchiko+Main+Store](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Hoto+Laboratory+Kawaguchiko+Main+Store)
- **Operational note:** It may not be the most time-efficient backup from stop 17. Before implementation, have route engine calculate walk vs taxi; alternatively choose a festival snack lunch when queueing would cost the daylight photo window.

### A4c. Lunch/snack backup — Hana Terrace cafés

- If Momiji-tei unexpectedly closed or queue >45 minutes, use a **pizza/light meal at BRAND NEW DAY COFFEE**, milk soft serve/food at **T's Cafe**, or snacks at the Maple Corridor festival. This may require revisiting an earlier cluster, so **first preference is lunch close to Maple Corridor** or Hōtō Laboratory after checking the walking route; use Hana Terrace backup chiefly before leaving Oishi Park.

### A5. Maple Corridor / 2026 Autumn Leaves Festival — MUST DO

- **Names:** Momiji Corridor / Momiji Kairō / 紅葉回廊; Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival.
- **Access:** Red Line stop **17 Itchiku Kubota Art Museum**, walk to corridor.
- **Official 2026 festival dates:** **Saturday Nov 7 – Sunday Nov 29**.
- **Official illumination:** **Sunset until 21:00**; this source supersedes stale pages showing 22:00. [S5]
- **Duration:** 90–150 minutes total: daylight foliage, festival stalls, and early lights.
- **Cost:** Typical public corridor/festival entry is free; some independent museums/venues charge separately; don't confuse with parking fees.
- **What to do:** Red/orange maple walking corridor, nearby northern shoreline, snacks, low-light photos, see same site before and after lighting.
- **Sunset planning:** Around 16:40–16:50 in early November, confirm chosen day's sunset. For 18:25 departure, finish at 17:10–17:20 and **have taxi booked**. For longer illumination time, use later local train + JR connection (and accept later hotel arrival).
- **Weather:** Maple foliage may remain attractive when mountain is hidden; heavy rain/wind makes paths less pleasant; respect no-entry barriers and other visitors.
- **Official event:** [https://fujisan.ne.jp/news/6065/](https://fujisan.ne.jp/news/6065/)

## 6. Return by TRAIN: exact route and ticket/payment guide

### Baseline return (weekday; important to reconfirm operating date)

**Maple Corridor → taxi → Kawaguchiko Station → Fujikyu local → Otsuki → JR Kaiji → Shinjuku → walk to hotel.**

**Step 1: Leave the corridor** by around 17:10–17:20. Prearrange a pickup in a legal, easy-to-identify location ahead of time; do not ask taxi to stop inside pedestrian areas or assume immediate availability.

**Step 2: Arrive Kawaguchiko Station** by \~17:45–18:00. Keep 25+ min buffer before the 18:25 local train. Bring \~¥2,500–4,000 **per taxi** as an estimated contingency budget, not a published flat fare (traffic may alter fare). Ask staff/restaurant to help book a local taxi early in the afternoon if needed. **No taxi availability or advance dispatch is confirmed.**

**Step 3: Take the 18:25 Fujikyu Railway local train toward Otsuki**, **arrive 19:20** per the March 2026 timetables and route schedule. Standard cash adult fare Kawaguchiko ↔ Otsuki **¥1,170**. Tap Suica where supported or purchase local ticket at station. [S3], [S15]

**Step 4: At Otsuki transfer to JR Kaiji**, 16-minute planned transfer. Follow signs for **JR Chuo Line / Limited Express Kaiji towards Shinjuku**; published **Kaiji 52 departs 19:36, arrives Shinjuku 20:42**, and JR site lists **Otsuki platform 5** for this service; verify the platform on the day because it can change. [S4]

**If both journeys use Suica for basic fares:** Follow Fujikyu's official **IC transfer gate instructions**. If the JR Kaiji express reservation is ticketless, ensure it is properly bought/associated: Suica pays **basic fare only**; a **limited-express seat ticket is additional**. If you have paper tickets, procedures differ; show them to staff if uncertain. Fujikyu warns its own Kawaguchiko station cannot currently sell advance **JR Kaiji/Azusa limited-express tickets departing from Otsuki**, so buy JR Kaiji reservations online before the return or at a staffed JR station in Tokyo before Fuji day. [S6], [S7]

**Indicative JR Otsuki → Shinjuku cost:** About **¥2,660 adult** including regular fare ¥1,340 + limited-express fare ¥1,320 (published third-party fare; confirm at actual checkout). Two passengers = \~¥5,320. [S16]

### Later-return alternatives and what to do when connections are missed

**Alternative R1 — leave corridor later / missed the 18:25 local**

- Published Fujikyu timetable shows **19:05 local from Kawaguchiko** toward Otsuki. A safe target is the **JR Kaiji 56, Otsuki 20:38 → Shinjuku 21:43**, not the 19:36 Kaiji. Confirm the exact Kawaguchiko–Otsuki local arrival and transfer at station before committing; source confirms 19:05 departure and JR confirms 20:38 Kaiji departure. [S3], [S17]
- Plan to arrive Kawaguchiko Station at least 15–20 min before 19:05, ideally earlier. After sightseeing this means taxi arranged by \~18:00–18:20, not assumed on demand.
- If Kaiji reservation cannot be changed, buy a **new express reservation / valid seat-unassigned product** or use JR regular trains. Do not assume an unused earlier Kaiji reservation covers later departures.

**Alternative R2 — miss 19:05 / stay even longer**

- Fujikyu publishes later local departures **19:39, 20:09, 20:38 and 21:16 on weekdays**; actual connections to JR Shinjuku may be slow or significantly later. **Do not promise a convenient Kaiji connection** for these without exact date/day search. Open live route finder for `Kawaguchiko → Shinjuku` before leaving the corridor, or ask station staff.
- If late-night trains are disrupted, look up a direct highway bus from Kawaguchiko Station to Busta Shinjuku, but **do not assume availability or late departure**. Tickets are generally reserved seats; traffic may delay return.
- If there is no safe return connection, stay in Kawaguchiko overnight (new accommodation cost). This is **last resort**, not the planned itinerary.

**Alternative R3 — skip illumination and return earlier in daylight**

- Take a Red Line bus back from stop 17 to Kawaguchiko Station well before last daytime service. Reserve the **17:41 Fuji Excursion direct train → Shinjuku 19:48 on weekdays** (19:40 on weekend/holiday schedule). No transfer; the tradeoff is leaving the corridor before proper illumination. [S1]

**Alternative R4 — regular JR trains instead of Kaiji**

- At Otsuki, search JR Chuo Line regular connections toward Takao and onward Shinjuku. More transfers and longer travel but no limited-express seat surcharge. Departure/duration cannot be pinned until chosen date; use JR route planner.

**Critical rule for HTML:** Show a `LAST CHECKED` timestamp and `CONFIRM NOW` link beside **all rail departures**, not just the primary train. When selected travel date changes, flag any weekday vs weekend schedule change rather than silently carrying the old timings forward.

## 7. Weather-flexibility decision framework

**Where to check:**

1. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) official [https://www.jma.go.jp/bosai/map.html](https://www.jma.go.jp/bosai/map.html)
2. Mountain visibility cameras (third party): [https://mtfujitoday.com/cameras](https://mtfujitoday.com/cameras) — check **Kawaguchiko/Oishi-area** feeds if available.
3. JR/Fujikyu operating status; actual red-line bus updates as applicable.

**Decision timing:**

- 3–5 days before: compare Nov 8–13 forecast; choose likely clearest **morning**.
- Evening before: reassess; if rainy/clouded, look at change/refund policy and choose another day if realistic.
- 05:45–06:00 travel morning: look at live camera and rail status, not just Tokyo forecast. Understand that clouds may change in hours.
- **Clear Fuji early:** Oishi Park first, long photography block; Nagasaki only if enough time.
- **Mixed visibility:** Keep Oishi first but consider shortening/lengthening once mountain emerges. Maple Corridor remains beautiful independently.
- **Rain/cloud all day:** Make a deliberate date swap if transport/tour booking permits. If not, salvage with Maple Corridor, cafés, local food and low-expectation lake shots.
- **High wind/disruption:** Prioritize safe indoor café/restaurant; check rail operation before going far around lake.

**Weather and apparel:** The lakeside is chilly in November, especially pre-dawn/after sunset (single-digit °C common, but actual day forecast governs). Bring light thermal or warm layers, wind-resistant jacket, comfortable/grippy shoes, small umbrella, power bank, tissues, hand warmers optional. Phones and cameras lose battery faster in cold. No hiking or mountaineering equipment is required for this easy walking day.

## 8. Booking, tickets, payment, and timing — authoritative checklist

### Buy or prepare BEFORE Fuji day

- Choose final date after comparing forecasts/visibility; favor weekday if possible.
- Book **two 07:30 Fuji Excursion reserved seats** Shinjuku → Kawaguchiko. Verify **basic fare AND express** handled.
- Book **two JR Kaiji 52 seats** Otsuki → Shinjuku (or valid alternative) if committing to 18:25 local return. Keep in mind change rules if weather moves trip.
- Record alternative Kaiji 56 **20:38 → 21:43** for leaving later; actual availability remains unknown.
- Charge each Suica sufficiently or carry cash for Fujikyu local railway, local buses and incidentals. FYI **Fujikyu supports Suica** for its trains; charge at supported machines subject to hours, cash notes only. [S7]
- Save reservation receipts and screenshots offline. **Do not hard-code e-tickets as QR** unless reservation confirms QR boarding.
- Check Momiji-tei availability **especially if Thursday**; confirm backup if closed.
- Ask hotel or local provider about taxi pickup booking near Maple Corridor in advance if possible. If no booking possible, determine whether earlier Red Line or return-date concession is safer.
- Save official timetable URLs offline or as links within app.

### During the day

- 06:00 weather camera check.
- Leave hotel \~06:45; arrive JR Shinjuku before 07:15.
- Check departure platform from board; board correct **Fuji Excursion** carriage.
- At Kawaguchiko check **Red Line stop 20** and ticket choice; decide on day pass only if useful.
- Capture main Fuji photos at Oishi Park while visible.
- Coffee/snack at Hana Terrace.
- Decide whether to skip Nagasaki to save time; do not return to Oishi if unnecessary.
- Confirm lunch restaurant actually open; order a specific regional dish.
- Capture Maple Corridor daylight and early illumination.
- By **16:45** confirm whether taxi and 18:25 return remain achievable; otherwise select later rail option.
- Before leaving festival check actual JR/Otsuki connection, seat ticket, and station arrival timing.
- At Otsuki follow JR/transfer gate rules relevant to your ticket type.

## 9. Expense model for TWO adults (JPY)

**All numbers are planning estimates unless sourced as published fares/menu. No shopping, souvenirs, optional private tour or serious taxi traffic surcharge included.** Train Kaiji estimate is third-party published and must be price-checked.

| Item | For 2 | Status / source |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Outbound **Fuji Excursion Shinjuku → Kawaguchiko** | **¥8,400** | Published ¥4,200 each [S1] |
| Red Line sightseeing bus day pass, optional | **¥3,000** | Published ¥1,500 each; individual Suica fares could be cheaper [S8] |

| Taxi Maple Corridor → Kawaguchiko Station | **¥2,500–4,000** | **ESTIMATE**, verify with operator/driver |
| Local Fujikyu railway Kawaguchiko → Otsuki | **¥2,340** | Published ¥1,170 cash fare each [S15] |
| JR **Kaiji Otsuki → Shinjuku** | **\~¥5,320** | Estimate ¥2,660 each [S16]; check live sales price |
| Optional late dinner in Shinjuku | **¥2,000–3,500** | Not in base total; estimate |
| **Total core excluding dinner/extra side** | **¥26,270–29,270** | Approximate for 2 with full Red Line passes |
| **Total with side and dinner** | **¥28,270–33,770** | Optional spend |

**Cost optimization:** Compare actual Red Line *point-to-point* fares and skip the day passes if 2 rides cost materially less. If you're willing to leave Maple Corridor before illumination, direct return Fuji Excursion eliminates the taxi / Otsuki transfer but changes the day goal; it is not recommended as baseline.

**Do not include airport transfer or hotel accommodation on Fuji day budget**; they're in other itinerary modules. If an HTML dashboard also shows PHP, calculate with a **date-stamped FX rate**; do not hard-code a guessed exchange rate.

## 11. HTML-agent build specification (content and behavior, not code)

**Build a one-day detail page to be later embedded in a master 7–14 November Tokyo itinerary. No image references or photo assets are required from this research file. The coding agent will source and handle all images separately.**

**Top header / context:** `Mt. Fuji & Lake Kawaguchiko`, `Flexible date`, `Two adults`, `Hotel: APA Shinjuku Gyoemmae`, `Must-sees: Oishi Park + Maple Corridor`, `Last research verified 2026-11-02`, `All times JST`. **DO NOT mark a fixed November 11 reservation.**

**Components:**

1. At-a-glance day timeline with travel-type chips (walk/train/local bus/taxi/train), place links and pause-aware timing buffers.
2. Collapsible **Step-by-step transit**: exact platform/line/direction, what to do at entry/exit gate, whether Suica or reserved ticket, booking link, fare for 1 and 2 passengers. Show stations and bus **stop 20/18/17** with clear direction.
3. **Primary and alternate routes**: 18:25 local + Kaiji 52; later 19:05 local + Kaiji 56 (marked verify); direct 17:41 Fuji Excursion if skipping illumination; possible bus if railway disrupted. Each must expose conditions, not just a route label.
4. **Attraction cards** with must-do vs optional, duration, photo context in text, admissions, activity descriptions, map link and a `skip / shorten / extend` branch.
5. **Food cards**: Momiji-tei top **exact dishes and restaurant-verified 2026 prices**, opening-hour conflict banner, backup Hōtō Laboratory and Hana Terrace cafés. Do not use old aggregator prices over official menu.
6. **Checklists** before trip and during travel. Checkboxes should persist on device if implementation allows (local storage; coder handles).
7. **Budget sheet:** published fares separate from rough estimates; total for both; dynamic toggle for bus pass vs single fares, taxi vs bus, optional Nagasaki, dinner, and later train. Convert to PHP only with dated FX data.
8. **Source citations / verification metadata** on each relevant ticket/schedule/restaurant fact, plus last-check date and a `Verify before booking` callout.
9. **Weather decision view** (clear Fuji / mixed / rainy). Never represent forecast days as guaranteed mountain visibility. An implementation can connect live data later; this package supplies only rules and source URLs.
10. **Offline-friendly mode**: core static text, schedule and maps address visible even without network; external websites/maps, payment and dynamic weather require a connection.

**Data shape suggestion for coder:** Each stop should have `id`, `name`, `coordinates_or_address`, `sequence`, `must_do`, `planned_arrive`, `planned_leave`, `minutes_flexible`, `description`, `best_activity`, `directions_from_previous`, `ticket_info`, `costs` with `published_or_estimate`, `restaurant_menu_items`, `opening_hours`, `sources[]`, `alternatives[]`, `verification_status`. Travel segments need `mode`, `origin`, `destination`, `departure`, `arrival`, `stop_or_platform`, `payment`, `reservation_required`, `latest_departure`, `fallback_route`, `source` and `weekday_rule`. For uncertain numeric prices use null plus explanatory text instead of made-up precision.

**QA acceptance checklist for HTML agent:**

- Oishi AND Maple Corridor represented separately as mandatory.
- No gotemba shopping inserted into the Fuji day.
- Photo sourcing completely delegated to coding agent.
- All seven local transport movements clearly distinguish walking, Red Line BUS, Fujikyu local TRAIN, JR Kaiji TRAIN and taxi.
- 17:41 direct return explicitly conflicts with long illumination stay.
- Return default is **18:25 / 19:20 / 19:36 / 20:42**; one fallback is **19:05 + 20:38 Kaiji** pending checked connection.
- Thursday Momiji-tei closure caveat displayed.
- Train fares have correct base fare + limited-express component handling, and Otsuki transfer differentiates Suica versus paper ticket.
- Pricing and train departures show `as checked 2026-11-02` and a real source link.
- No false claim that taxis, seats, or tickets are already booked.

### Open verification / don't invent

1. The user has not fixed the Mt. Fuji date, so this weekday timetable is an **example**, not a confirmed ticket.
2. **Taxi dispatch, exact fare, festival pickup zone:** not confirmed; range estimated.
3. **Momiji-tei Thursday closure:** conflicting current sources; treat closed until confirmed by direct call.
4. **19:05 Fujikyu arrival at Otsuki and onward 20:38 Kaiji**: verify as a continuous connection for the chosen date.
5. **Red Line afternoon last bus** may be delayed/seasonally adjusted; do not rely on it for after-dark return.
6. **JR limited-express online booking** can be express-only versus combined fare. Exact ticket collection or IC linkage varies by purchased product.
7. **Sunset time** depends on specific date; 16:40–16:50 is planning estimate.
8. **All photos and image assets intentionally omitted** by user request; coding agent owns that workflow.
